This is for 's contest which is to turn a character from Everlee into a carousel animal.
I choose Seven, because I adore Chestnuts and she intrigued me, but unfortunately I always manage to make something beautiful into something condensed of pain and torture ^^. In this picture I've drawn Seven as half trapped carousel, and the other half of her trying to escape. Trying to me free. Let me explain,
When I was a little girl, my mum took me to a fair ground and she pointed out the Carousel and told me a story about the horses on it, as follows;
"When evil souls used to walk the earth they used to feed off little children's souls because the children were too weak to fight them. The more souls they ate the stronger they became. However most children could run away before they were caught. So the Evil souls thought up a cunning plan. Horses couldn't see, smell or feel them so they were the easiest of animals to catch. They'd drag up a ribbon to the horse and let the animal come forward, then they trapped them. The horses soles were too wild and strong to be eaten so they used them for another purpose. The ribbon wound around the horse and encased the terrified animal in its last movement, most horses spurred their heads up and bite out in fear, others tried to retreat. Either way, escaping was impossible. The evil souls would then push a pole through the horses back and collect several horses at a time. The bright ribbons were said to make the children come to the horses, and those that sat apon their backs had no chance of escaping. When all is quiet at the fair ground, if you listen and watch carefully the horses screams are carried in the wind. There eyes are ever moving. They are still to this day trying to escape, and it is rumored the only way you can release their soles is to burn them."
Fair does, my mum used to scare the living daylight out of me, with her story. Its no wonder halve my art is overly Emo XD!
Woah, that's crazy, Velle. I love the glow-y ribbons and horn as well as the shading. Carousel horses have always fascinated me; they're so pretty but the story kind of freaked me out. xD
Wow...that story is intense! I like it, though. I always like dark haunting things like that, especially when it's centered around something we generally associate with happy things. I think you did a fantastic job portraying the story with Seven. The different shading styles really help pull it off. I love that pose, too, and the glowy ribbons. It's really well done! Thanks for making it.
